In recent years, the United Kingdom has witnessed a concerning surge in the prevalence of synthetic opioids within the illicit drug market. This alarming trend poses significant risks to public health, necessitating a proactive and trauma informed approach to substance use responses. At TILT, we recognise the urgency of addressing this issue and have developed a comprehensive course to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of substance use.
The Synthetic Opioid Epidemic:
The landscape of the UK illicit drug market has undergone a profound transformation, with synthetic opioids emerging as a formidable force. These substances, often more potent than traditional opioids, present a heightened risk of overdose and addiction. The increased availability of synthetic opioids such as fentanyl and more recently, nitazenes, has contributed to a surge in drug-related fatalities, creating a pressing need for education and awareness. Between June...
Welcome back to the TILT blog.
You will have noticed a few cosmetic changes to the site. It's something that's been in the works for a little while and we're very glad to have finally be able to do it....if a little nervous.
The new design is aimed to be generally a little more user friendly and visually appealing for our members but also introduces the main team behind TILT on the front page.
It doesn't change a thing in terms of content and all courses in your store will remain. We do hope, though, that the changes improve the user experience for everyone on the platform!
Reflective practice is a process that involves evaluating and analysing our own experiences, actions, and decisions to gain new insights and improve our future performance. In support, reflective practice is a crucial tool for services to enhance their skills and knowledge and provide better care to service users.
Our field is constantly evolving, and support workers face new challenges every day. Reflective practice helps support services workers to keep up with these changes and adapt to new situations. By reflecting on their experiences, support workers can identify areas where they need to improve, learn from challenges, and develop new strategies for providing better care.
Reflective practice is also important for support workers to develop a deeper understanding of their service users. By reflecting on their interactions with service users, support services workers can gain insights into their needs, values, and preferences. This can help them to provide more personalised...
Just over two weeks on from the launch of TILT at the Cranstoun social justice conference in Brighton, I've had a chance to reflect on what has felt like a bit of a whirlwind. It's been incredibly fun telling people about this new system we're so passionate about and seeing the enquiries and completed free courses come in is really amazing to see.
I'd encourage anyone and everyone to take advantage of our free course and share it amongst your colleagues!
With just over a week to go before launch, I have decided to write a very brief blog on how I'm feeling. Simply put, I'm nervous! I have delivered trauma informed training face-to-face or through Zoom for over 5 years, but this is the first time I have developed something so out of my comfort zone.
But then this is the nature of becoming trauma informed. We have to take ourselves out of our comfort zone to keep learning and supporting the people we work with. As someone who delivers learning, I have to demonstrate this more than most.
I am delighted to be able to share TILT with the world and to be able to offer people and services a cost-effective option for their own trauma informed learning. Whether you want to get the basics from the FREE course, go through a full trauma informed ‘drip’ course or supplement your learning with our one-off courses, I am confident that TILT will be here for you.
TILT is also designed to grow and to become better and better over time. If...
